My apologies for not posting in a while. I've recently experienced some stressful things in my personal life and it has stymied my will to post.
Here's the down low.
We're going to slowly ramp up the blog posts and videos again.
Lets talk lifestyle design.
My wife and I have been discussing our plans for the next year and have suggested some pretty stark changes to our everyday lifestyle. In short, we've been talking a lot about working remotely and traveling... full time.
We seem to consistently bump into this roadblock of wanting to travel but not having the time to do so. That, and it can be costly. Money. As we advance in our careers and save up some cash, money becomes less of an obstacle. Time is the big one.
What we have found is that most employers encourage a vacation of about a week to a week and a half at a time. Extended vacations or sabbaticals are a near impossibility. We usually have enough PTO to cover 5-7 days of vacation at a time. However, one week is unsatisfactory. We want our vacations and travel experiences to give recharge us and give us life. Two weeks minimum sounds about right. But like I said, this is difficult to achieve.
Our solution? Make money while traveling.
Find employment that allows for either remote work or traveling built into the job description.
Since my wife is a Physical Therapist, she has been researching the traveling therapist occupation. She's figuring out if it fits her personality, and how well it fits into our lifestyle desires. So far, it appears like it could be a good fit to at least try over a one year period.
Myself? I'm looking into trying to get remote work. Most of my time is spent at a desk. I want to move toward editing video on the go and make it easier for us to be mobile and travel to wherever and for whatever time we please. Hell yes please.
Why am I telling you this? I guess since I like to talk about money, lifestyle, and careers, this seems relevant. Think of it as a "practice what you preach" post. I'm not just telling you guys to think about it, I'm telling myself as well.
I'll keep you posted.
